Product Description.:

Although applied only to the skin, some of Clindamycin phosphate could be absorbed into the bloodstream and it has been known to cause severe?sometimes even fatal?colitis (an inflammation of the lower bowel) when taken internally. Symptoms, which can occur a few days, weeks, or months after beginning treatment with Clindamycin phosphate, include severe diarrhea, severe abdominal cramps, and the possibility of the passage of blood.

Use Clindamycin phosphate exactly as prescribed. Excessive use of Cleocin T can cause your skin to become too dry or irritated.

* If you miss a dose...
Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule.

* Storage instructions...
Store at room temperature. Keep from freezing. Store liquids in tightly closed containers.

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Cleocin T.

* Side effects may include:
Burning, itching, peeling skin, reddened skin, skin dryness

If you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to Cleocin T or similar drugs, such as lincomycin, you should not use Clindamycin phosphate. Make sure your doctor is aware of any drug reactions you have experienced.

Unless you are directed to do so by your doctor, do not take Clindamycin phosphate if you have ever had an intestinal inflammation, ulcerative colitis, or antibiotic-associated colitis.

Cleocin T contains an alcohol base, which can cause burning and irritation of the eyes. It also has an unpleasant taste. Use caution when applying Clindamycin phosphate so as not to get it in the eyes, nose, mouth, or skin abrasions. In the event of accidental contact, rinse the affected area with cool water.

Use with caution if you have hay fever, asthma, or eczema.

The effects of Cleocin T during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. Cleocin T may appear in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. If Clindamycin phosphate is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding your baby until your treatment with Clindamycin phosphate is finished.
