CLEOCIN Vaginal Ovules are used to treat infections of the vagina caused by bacteria. They should only be used by women who are not pregnant. No studies have been done to see if they are safe to use in pregnant women.
Most women found the drug easy to take. The most common side effects were itching, discharge, and pain around and in the vagina. Some women got yeast infections.
CLEOCIN Vaginal Ovules are not for use in women who have an allergy to this kind of antibiotic. They should not be used for those who have had colitis or some other kinds of digestive problems.
Women who have loose stools or diarrhea after they take CLEOCIN Vaginal Ovules should contact their physician immediately.
Women who are taking CLEOCIN Vaginal Ovules should not have vaginal sex during treatment. They should not use vaginal products such as tampons or douche at this time. And they should not use latex or rubber birth control products such as condoms or vaginal contraceptive diaphragms for 3 days after treatment. CLEOCIN can weaken the latex and rubber.

Cleocin Vaginal Ovules are antibiotic suppositories that fight infection. They are inserted into the vagina to cure bacterial vaginosis (BV)?a problem women have when too many of a certain kind of bacteria are in the vagina.
Cleocin Vaginal Ovules are not as messy as creams or gels, and you only use them for 3 days to treat BV.
Cleocin Vaginal Ovules are a convenient and easy to use treatment. It's a 3-day treatment for bacterial vaginosis. And there's less mess than with creams or gels.
Cleocin Vaginal Ovules should only be placed in the vagina. Do not put them in your mouth or anus. One ovule should be used each day for 3 days. The best time to insert them is right before bedtime.
A prescription of Cleocin Vaginal Ovules comes with 3 ovules and a plastic applicator. You can use the applicator to insert the ovules, or you can use your finger.
To use the applicator:
1. Take one of the ovules out of its package.
2. The applicator has a plunger in one end. Pull it out about 1 inch.
3. Put the ovule in the open end of the applicator just far enough so it stays in place.
4. Gently insert the ovule and applicator into your vagina as far as you can without causing discomfort. Do this while either:
1. lying on your back with your knees bent, or
2. standing with your feet apart and your knees bent.
5. While holding the applicator, push in the plunger until it stops.
6. Take the applicator out of your vagina. The ovule should stay in your vagina.
7. Pull the plunger out of the applicator all the way. Wash both parts with soap and warm water, then rinse and dry them. Put the plunger back in the applicator and keep it in a clean, dry place.
8. The ovule melts inside your vagina. Lie down as soon as you can to help keep the medicine from leaking out.
Follow these instructions each night for 3 nights.
If you don't want to use the applicator, you can use your finger to gently push the ovule into your vagina as far up as it will comfortably go.
