Product Description.:
Seborrheic dermatitis, otherwise known as severe, itchy dandruff, affects millions of Americans each year. Capex? Shampoo (fluocinolone acetonide) topical shampoo, 0.01% is a proven, effective treatment that works at the source to stop severe dandruff.
Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a common, chronic condition that produces red, itchy scales in areas of the skin where there are many sebaceous glands, such as the scalp, eyebrows, chest, nose, ears and armpits.
The scaling and flaking of SD is caused by an excessive growth of surface cells. The scales of SD may be powdery and dry, or moist and greasy, and at times they may ooze. If left untreated, the scales may become thick, yellow and greasy and, occasionally, a secondary bacterial infection may occur.
Dandruff causes a dry, powdery white flaking of the scalp, often accompanied by itching. SD is also itchy and flaky, but the scalp is inflamed and red.
When SD occurs during infancy, it is also called cradle cap because it usually occurs around the scalp and ears. Symptoms may also be present in the diaper region or any bent surface areas.
People with seborrheic dermatitis (SD) can live normal, healthy lives. Although currently there is no cure for the disease, it can be kept under control so that the embarrassing scaling is minimized.
Treatment for SD varies, depending on the affected areas and the severity of the condition. The most simple treatment involves the use of medicated and anti-dandruff shampoos to control the itching and scaling. Mild-to-severe cases can be treated with medicated prescription shampoos such as Capex? Shampoo (fluocinolone acetonide) topical shampoo, 0.01%, which is a topical steroid. Some side effects have been reported infrequently in people who have used topical steroids, such as inflammation, burning, itching and irritation.
