Flossing one's teeth is a most important part of a daily program of personal oral hygiene.
Directions:
Cut off a piece of floss 2 or 3 feet long. Wrap one end around the index finger for the purpose of anchoring or holding. Use the thumb to hold the floss against the index finger. Grasp the floss with the opposite hand so that approximately one inch of floss is between the hands. Slip the floss gently between each pair of teeth by drawing slightly back and forth. Carry the floss under the gum until you feel definite resistance without discomfort. With the floss hugging the tooth surface, clean the plaque out and away from the gumline and off the tooth surface. This action disorganizes and removes the bacterial material on the tooth surface not reached by your toothbrush. Repeat this procedure for all your teeth, using a clean section of floss as needed.
