BP Cleansing Wash
- Soap sodium sulfacetamide 10% and sulfur 4%
Sulfacetamide
Competitively antagonizes PABA, an essential component of folic acid synthesis.
Sulfur
Inhibits the growth of Propionibacterium acnes and the formation of free fatty acids.
Indications and Usage
Topical control of acne vulgaris, acne rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis.
Contraindications
Kidney disease known hypersensitivity to sulfonamides, sulfur, or any component of the product.
Dosage and Administration
Adults and Children 12 yr of age and older
Topical
Avar cleanser, BP cleansing wash, Claris wash, Clenia foaming wash, Plexion cleanser, Rosac wash, Rosaderm cleanser, Rosanil cleanser, Rosula cleanser, Rosula wash, Zetacet wash
Wet skin and liberally apply to area(s) to be cleansed once or twice daily, massage gently into skin for 10 to 20 seconds working into a full lather, rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
Avar-e Emollient cream, Avar gel, Plexion TS , Rosac cream with sunscreens, Rosula gel
Apply a thin layer to affected area(s) 1 to 3 times daily.
Avar-e Green cream
Apply a thin layer to affected area(s) 1 to 3 times daily. Massage completely and uniformly into the skin.
Clenia emollient cream
Apply thin layer to affected area(s) 1 to 3 times daily. To minimize potential dryness, start with 1 application daily, then gradually increase to 2 to 3 times daily as needed.
Plexion cleansing cloth, Sumaxin cleansing pads
Wash affected area(s) with cleansing cloth or pad once or twice daily. Wet area(s) with water. Wet cloth or pad with a small amount of water and work into a full lather. Cleanse area(s) for 10 to 20 seconds. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
Plexion SCT
Wet skin. Apply in a film to entire face, avoiding contact with eyes or mucous membranes. Wait 10 minutes or until dry. Rinse thoroughly with water and pat dry.
General Advice
* If drying occurs with topical cleanser or wash, it may be controlled by rinsing product off sooner or using less often.
Storage/Stability
Store at controlled room temperature (59? to 86?F). Keep bottle tightly closed.

Precautions
Pregnancy
Category C .
Lactation
Undetermined however, small amounts of orally administered sulfonamides are secreted in breast milk.
Children
Safety and efficacy not determined in children younger than 12 yr of age.
Irritation
If irritation develops, discontinue use and institute appropriate therapy.
Sensitivity
May occur use caution and careful supervision when prescribing this drug for patients who may be prone to hypersensitivity to topical sulfonamides.
Sodium metabisulfite
May contain sodium metabisulfite, which can cause allergic-type reactions, including anaphylactic symptoms and life-threatening or less severe asthmatic episodes in susceptible individuals.
Patient Information
* Review prescribed dosing schedule with patient or caregiver.
* Remind patient or caregiver that product is not to be used in the eye, ear, or mucous membranes.
* Teach patient or caregiver proper technique for applying product: wash hands shake lotion and suspension well, then apply thin film to affected area(s) using fingers. Wash hands after applying product.
* Advise patient or caregiver to contact health care provider if local redness or swelling develops or if skin lesions do not improve or they worsen.
