Amaryl (glimepiride) is a sulfonylurea agent administered orally once a day. It is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, in conjunction with diet and exercise.

Studies have also proved the efficacy of Amaryl? combined with Lantus? when an oral treatment alone does not succeed in achieving sufficient glycemic control.

Amaryl? diminishes blood glucose levels via a dual mode of action by stimulating insulin release from pancreatic β cells and by increasing sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin.
