Kinetin - products are developed and launched by Almay, a company which has enjoyed a long history as a cosmetics giant and more recently as Skin Care Company. The real question we are asking ourselves is can this company which has created such an extensive line of cosmetics be equally as good at creating skin care products, and anti-aging formulas in particular.
Kinetin - Age Decelerating Daily Cream is purported by the manufacturer as being able to “help reverse, delay and prevent visible signs of skin aging and sun damage while maximizing skin's ability to retain moisture”. We will thoroughly investigate this products formulary to see what kind of results it can really provide to consumers in terms of skin rejuvenation and regeneration abilities.
Ingredients:
Kinetin - Age Decelerating Daily Cream makes use of Kinetin and Gluconamide in its formulary, as well as other ingredients as listed on the website. Let’s take a quick look at Kinetin.
Kinetin is technically a plant growth hormone which is believed by some researchers to be a growth factor in animal based studies and in vitro systems, which they then believe at some point, may have some effect on aging human skin. However, no one knows if it really works or if its does work how much would have to be used to be effective. Clearly, more research needs to be conducted on this compound.
Ingredients It has come to our attention that the Kinetin - Age Decelerating Daily Cream is no longer available on the Almay website. However, it is available through other online discount distributors. This new development made us really scrutinize this formula to discover the reasons why it is no longer available via Almay directly. We did not really have to look very hard if the truth is to be been known. Its possible that Kinetin and Gluconamide the two main ingredients listed for this product, both of which have no known proven ability to help reduce the outward signs of aging on facial skin. Kinetin is a little known and little tested plant hormone, which may have showed some initial results in animal studies. However, there is no evidence that it works is humans. If we compare this ingredient with Argireline, which has been research proven to have a direct effect on reducing visible wrinkle and impeding new ones, Kinetin’s performance is unacceptable.
The other ingredient they use is this product is Gluconamide, which is promoted on the website as being a “powerful line-smoothing ingredient” and it is also advertised as being able to hydrate skin. However, there is no research available that confirms this advertised ability. This ingredient can in no way be compared with Hyaluronic Acid, which has a stellar reputation as a skin hydrating agent, which can help smooth, soften and regenerate skin.
After reviewing this formulary it became clear to us why this product is not available via the Almay Website –it may have been incapable of providing the advertised results based on the active ingredients.
